Captain Redbeard

The Kemah Boardwalk Mascot

Long ago, on the misty shores of Featherbone Bay, two parrot brothers ruled the skies and seas: Captain Redbeard, bold and cunning, and his younger brother Captain Yellowbeak, daring and wild. Together, they commanded the legendary ship, The Screeching Gale, feared across the Seven Squawks.

Their bond was unbreakable—until one stormy night, chasing whispers of a cursed treasure buried beneath the Isle of Echoes, Captain Yellowbeak  vanished into the fog. The ship was torn apart by ghostly winds, and Redbeard was thrown ashore, clutching only a broken compass and a single crimson feather.

Years passed. Redbeard, now a grizzled captain with a patch on his eye  and tales etched into every feather, settled on the Boardwalk of Broken Masts, a place where sea legends drift in with the tide. He built a tavern called The Crimson Feather, where he tells stories of his brother, hoping one day the sea will return him—or reveal the truth.

But strange things stir in the wind. A mysterious map appears, marked with the symbol of The Screeching Gale. Whispers of a ghost ship sailing near the Fogfang Reefs reach Redbeard’s ears. Could Captain Yellowbeak still be alive? Or has he become something else entirely?

Now, Captain Redbeard must return to the sea, face the haunted waters, and uncover the fate of his brother—before the curse claims him too.
