KEMAH BOARDWALK DEBUTS NEW 140-FOOT THRILL RIDE
March 6, 2026 Houston, TX— Kemah Boardwalk is soaring to new heights with the grand opening of Drop Zone, a reimagined 140-foot thrill tower that is now officially open to the public. The new attraction replaces the previous ride of the same name, delivering the same heart-pounding plunge guests loved, now powered by upgraded ride technology and enhanced infrastructure designed for high-thrill performance.
Manufactured by ARM Rides Inc., Drop Zone lifts riders more than 100 feet into the air before releasing them into a gravity-defying free fall at speeds reaching 47 mph. From the top, riders enjoy sweeping views of the Boardwalk and Galveston Bay before plunging back down in an exhilarating two-minute experience.
The decision to install a brand new Drop Zone, allowed for an upgraded control system technology and an entirely new structure that will be enjoyed by guests for years to come.
A high-thrill drop ride is a hallmark of any amusement park, and Kemah Boardwalk was eager to restore this adrenaline-pumping experience for guests. With 12 individual ride units accommodating one guest per unit and a minimum height requirement of 48 inches, Drop Zone delivers maximum intensity, catering to dedicated thrill-seekers while complementing the Boardwalk’s diverse attraction lineup.
Later this spring, Drop Zone will debut a new projected lighting system that will allow the 140-foot tower to change colors throughout the evening, creating a dynamic nighttime skyline feature visible across the Boardwalk and Galveston Bay.
